Diagnosis.—This new species is assigned to the fasciatus species group due to having five dorsal strioes (only four in the monotypic quadrilinea-tus speces geoup) and both ran-shaped upper secondary temporals and an undivided post-mental (elongated and divided, respectively, in the obsoletus group).lt differs from all Asian members of the fasciatus group (see cimpari-sons, below) by following combination of characters; fan-shaped upper secondary tem-porals, a single postmental, irregular femoral scale parch, smooth postanal scales.
Description of holotype.—A juvenile with a SVL of 43.3 mm and complete length of 70.5mm. See Table 1 for the other measurements.
Snout rounded, portion of rostral visible from above about equal to frontonasal. Supranasal moderately enlarged, but slightly smaller than prefrontal. Frontonasal large, in contact wth anterior loreals and frontal. Prefrontal slightly smaller than frontoparietal, in contact with an-terior and posterior loreals, first superciliary and first supraocular, longest suture with fronto-nasal. Frontal moderate, much longer than its distance from tip of snout, narrower slightky posteriorly, in contact with anterior three su-praoculars. Frontoparietals longer than wide, forming a median suture equal to half their length. lnterparietal less in area than fronto- parietals, slightly narrowed posteriorly, round-ed behind, and in contact with nuchals. Parietal large, greatest width about three fourths of length. Nuchals one on left side, two on right. No differentiated enlarged postnuchal scale insecond row. Nasal moderate, divided, posterior part behind nostril as large large as anterior oart. Postnasal present. Anterior loreal not twice as wide as high, slightly higher than posterior. Pos-terior loreal three-fourths as high as long, touching two supralabials two. Supraoculars four, anterior three touching frontal. Superciliaries seven. Preocular small, followed by small scutes. Postoculars two. Post-suboculars four. Primary temporal large, rect-angular, broadly in contact with two secondary temporals. Upper secondary temporal large fan-shaped, posterior end round without notch. Lower secondary temporal with sides nearlyparallel. Tertiary temporals following behind secondary temporals. Supralabials seven, first slightly higher and larger than succeeding three, seventh much larger than sixth. Lower eyelid with five plates separated from presuboc-ulars and postsuboculars by three tows of gran-ules. Two superimposed postlabials following seveth supralabial, separating it from ear opening. Two auricular lobules in anterior mar-gin. Mental enlarged with labial border much greater than fostral. Postmental undivided. Three pairs of chinshields. Enlarged postgenial following third chinshield. Anterior inner edge of postgenial bordered by a scale longer than wide. Body scales parallel on side of dorsum, dorsal scales of median row slightly larger than asjoining lateral scales. Scale rows around mid-dle of body 24 and 28 in constricted portion of neck. Paravertebrals 51. Subcaudals strongly widened, 9 scale rows encircle tail at level of tehth subcaudal, 98 scales in a longitudinal se-ries. No keeled scales in postanal region. Eight preanal scales, median pair very large smaller outer scales overlapping inner. Outer wrist tu-bercle prominent. Finger lamellar formula 5-9-11-10-8 on each side Basal lamella of each finger enlarged and thickened, A patch of en-larged irregular scales on posterior femur Scales on outer side of sole flat, imbricated, Toe la-mellar formula 6-10-13-15-10 on each side.
